2010 Formula Palmer Audi Championship

Formula Palmer Audi is firmly established as one of the most important single seater championships in Europe thanks to its combination of car performance, exposure, professionalism and cost effectiveness.

FPA has successfully progressed the careers of hundreds of talented young drivers, many of whom have graduated to the very highest levels of the sport. Nine FPA drivers have progressed to Formula One, with many more racing in premier international championships such as IRL, DTM, FIA GT, British Touring Cars and World Touring Cars.

All cars in the championship are owned, prepared and run by MotorSport Vision, which also organises the prestigious FIA Formula Two Championship. Like F2, FPA operates from 30,000sq ft workshops at its own test circuit, Bedford Autodrome. Every car is prepared to the exact same standard by a highly experienced team, ensuring absolute equality of equipment for all drivers and creating the unique level playing field that has provided the springboard for so many drivers during the last twelve years.

With equality of machinery assured, the racing is close and full of overtaking. The cars themselves have 300bhp from a 1.8-litre turbocharged Audi engine, which incorporates an overboost feature that increases power to 360bhp for an eight second burst. On the push of a button, each driver can call upon extra power to help complete a pass, or defend a challenge.

FPA's have been further enhanced thanks to the series' unique link to the FIA Formula Two Championship, also run by MotorSport Vision. In 2010 the FPA champion will receive the extraordinary prize of a £100,000 scholarship towards an F2 race seat in 2011 - the biggest prize in UK motorsport. The top six drivers in the championship will also be rewarded with an F2 test drive.
