Russell Racing came into being in October 2005 after finalising a surprise buyout of the assets of former Formula Renault UK entrant Team JLR.

Owned by North London businessman Tim Russell, the team is now based at West Surrey Racing's stunning premises in Middlesex.

In 2008, Russell Racing plans for a renewed assault on the FR 2000 Class of the Formula Renault BARC Championship and also hopes to return to the Formula Renault UK series.
